Combining ART and CHARITY - Carlos Rocha Donates Painting to BATA Foundation
Carlos Rocha donates a vibrant painting of a carnival to the children of the BATA Foundation.
The Carnival
Below an ashen-coal sky
We
The lost children
Celebrate new life
As promising and inviting
As a carnival
Built just for us
Under stardust and moonlight
Atop the growing grass
Of answered prayer.
Come!
Listen to our laughter
Hear our cries
As the salted tears crystallize
And our bitterness grows to love…
And the fear shrinks down to size…
Whilst hollow tear drops
shatter upon the ground
We were the children
Who were lost
But are now found.

Selling for upward of PHP 50,000, Carlos Rocha's works are typically seen displayed in Rockwell's Power Plant mall, hotel lobbies, museums, and the likes. However, one special painting by Rocha titled, The Carnival, will now belong to the children of the BATA Foundation orphanage in Marikina city. It is a colorful, fun, and vibrant painting of just that, a carnival, which surely will brighten up the spirits of the girls in our orphanage. Carlos, out of the kindness of his heart, agreed months earlier to create a painting just for the orphans. As opposed to bare walls, this painting will bring color and life to the home where the orphans reside. The Carnival will serve as a beacon of hope for the children of the BATA Foundation. In Brazil, street artists paint murals on walls throughout slum neighborhoods or "las favelas" as their way of giving back, bringing bright scenery to otherwise bare and cracking walls. Here in the Philippines, one selfless artist is doing his part bringing the world of art to those less fortunate. THANK YOU Mr. Charlie Rocha!
