Best 1911 Pistols for Secure Home Storage

Posted by Team Armscor on Sep 14, 2017

What kind of storage you use for your guns largely depends on what type of guns you own. If you’re looking for a pistol that can be easily stored and secured, then you’ll want to look at compacts. You wouldn’t necessarily have trouble storing full-size or mid-size pistols, but compacts are, as the name suggests, a more size-efficient option.

Here are some compact 1911 pistols you can store safely in your home.

Rock Ultra Compact

The TCM Rock Ultra CS Lightweight has power and durability with a lighter feel, thanks to its aluminum frame. Built to drive an original Armscor 22 TCM 9R cartridge, it features a 3.62” barrel with penetrating impact and remarkably light recoil.

Additional Specs:

  • Height: 5.12”
  • Length: 7.12”
  • MSRP: $837

TAC Ultra Compact 9mm

The TAC Ultra Compact features a full tactical rail good for a variety of accessories. It's chambered in 9mm with a 3.50" button-rifled barrel supported by a full-length guide rod and full dust cover. It includes a low-profile, adjustable rear sight and high-visibility, fiber-optic front sight, so targeting is a breeze.

Additional Specs:

  • Height: 5.12”
  • Length: 7.12”
  • MSRP: $786

Rock Ultra Compact 45ACP

The Rock Ultra Compact is built in traditional, 70 series design and delivered with top-notch upgrades. This 1911's smooth-angled, snag-free style allows for quick draw in dire situations, so this should definitely be on your short-list.

Additional Specs:

  • Height: 5.11”
  • Length: 7.13”
  • MSRP: $731

GI Standard Compact 45ACP

The 1911 GI Standard is great for shooters looking for a more original representation of a classic 1911 but still want something in a compact frame. It's chambered in 45ACP and has wood grips, as opposed to the G10s on many modern-style 1911s.

Additional Specs:

  • Height: 5.12”
  • Length: 7.25”
  • MSRP: $545

A Note on Storage:

Compact 1911 pistols make for particularly good compacts due to their slim width. Most of these pistols are only 1.3 inches wide, whereas some full-size polymers are around 1.5 inches or more. There are many small safes available on the market that will work perfectly by your bedside. Some feature biometric systems that can be programmed to open by fingerprint or with a keypad number system. Otherwise you can also look toward large storage safes, but, for your favorite 1911 pistol, a smaller option will do the trick.
